Position Description
Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN)
Providence at Home with Compassus
Pay Range: $34.38 – $45.35/hour
Join Providence at Home with Compassus as a Wound Care RN and bring your clinical expertise to patients where they heal best—in their homes. In this vital role, you’ll deliver specialized wound care and play a key part in improving outcomes for patients dealing with acute, chronic, and complex wounds. You’ll work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, individualized care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough wound assessments and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Monitor wound healing progress and adapt care strategies as needed.
- Provide education to patients and caregivers on wound prevention and management.
- Coordinate with physicians, home health aides, and other clinical staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Serve as a clinical resource for wound care best practices across the team.
- Document all care and changes accurately, clearly, and in a timely manner in the electronic health record.
- Maintain awareness of patient insurance coverage and deliver cost-effective care.
- Participate in staff training, orientation, and performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of nursing experience; wound care, home health, hospice, or med/surg preferred.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Active Washington RN license.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) within 30 days of hire.
- One of the following wound certifications required upon hire:
- CWOCN (Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse)
- CWCN (Certified Wound Care Nurse)
- COCN (Certified Ostomy Care Nurse)
- CCCN (Certified Continence Care Nurse)
Skills & Attributes
- In-depth knowledge of wound healing, wound vacs, and dressing types.
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently in home-based settings.
- Organized, self-directed, and skilled in time management.
- Sensitive to diverse populations and committed to patient-centered care.
Work Environment
The role requires standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and the use of clinical equipment. You must be comfortable with routine exposure to bodily fluids and infection control procedures in a healthcare setting.
